A busy street in downtown Myrtle Beach will close for around a week during the first month of 2025.
Main Street from Broadway to 8th Avenue North will close from 11 a.m. Jan. 11 through 5 p.m. Jan. 19, according to a social media post from the City of Myrtle Beach. Parts of Oak Street and 8th Avenue connected to Main Street will also close.
Crews will install a new water and sewer system during the closure.
This portion of Main Street has around 14,400 cars driving on it daily and part of Oak Street has nearly 8,000, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation . There will be detours in place for those who typically drive the road.
There have been other road closures in the area this year as the South Carolina Department of Transportation 501 Realignment Project continues on . This project aims to better connect U.S. 501 and U.S. 17 in downtown Myrtle Beach.
