GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Myrtle Beach man was held at gunpoint near a Murrells Inlet marina by two men who claimed everything in its waters belonged to them, according to a Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office report.
It happened Dec. 14 about 8:20 a.m. at the Crazy Sister marina located at 4123 U.S. Highway 17.
The victim told a deputy he was checking crab pots in the area of Huntington Beach State Park when he saw two people in a camouflage boat doing the same.
The victim approached the men and told them the pots belonged to him.
“One of the individuals stated, ‘I’m from here, everything in this inlet is mine,’” while a second man pointed a shotgun at him as the first man laughed.
The victim said he wasn’t able to get a photograph of the suspects because he feared reaching into his pockets. One of the men finished checking the crab pots and they both left in a boat between 19 and 20 feet long.
The victim also contacted state Department of Natural Resources officials, the report said.
