MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The Market Common’s annual “A Southern Times Square” celebration aims to bring a piece of the Big Apple to Myrte Beach.
News13 on Tuesday visited the popular shopping district on Tuesday morning as set up was taking place for the event which runs along Reed Street, Howard Avenue and Deville Street.
In addition to live music and entertainment, the year-end bash features plenty of dancing, food and drink vendors, a children’s corner and Jumbotron display.
Emcee Duane Farmer said a light show, giveaways and celebrity guest appearances will all be a part of the festivities as well — capped by the midnight ball drop.
“It’s a great way to ring in the new year,” Farmer said. “You get to see a lot of your friends, a lot of people you’ve never met, and you would not believe how packed this place gets. Everybody comes out here because it’s a fun, family-friendly environment.”
Tickets are required for the event.
If you have spent $25 or more at one Market Common business between Dec. 26 and New Year’s Eve, you can bring your receipt to the Market Common Management Office at 4017 Deville Street until 9 p.m. to get a free ticket to the event.
