HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Horry County Fire Rescue was busier than ever during 2024 as crews were dispatched on 83,208 calls, officials said .
That’s nearly 4,000 more calls than the 79,238 the agency responded to in 2023. Along the way, HCFR broke another record in July with a 267-call daily average for seven shifts.
“These numbers mark both growth in our coverage area and the hard work and dedication of our first responders, who chose this career to help when it’s needed most,” HCFR said in a Facebook post. “These numbers mark both growth in our coverage area and the hard work and dedication of our first responders, who chose this career to help when it’s needed most.”
After closing out 2024 with a late-night medical, crews began 2025 just minutes after the ball dropped to start the new year by responding to a residential structure fire in the 3000 block of Cape Landing Circle in the Socastee area. No one was hurt, and the small fire was contained to the porch area of one of the units.
