Horry County officials stress importance of following burn ban

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Horry County officials are reminding the community a burn ban is still in effect, and if not followed, they will not hesitate to bring consequences to violators.

In just a matter of days, police have identified a handful of people for violating the county-wide burn ban, something county leaders say they’re taking seriously given the efforts they’re making to keep the community safe and informed.

“At this point, we expect most of our community to be aware that there is a burn ban,” County spokesperson Mikayla Moskov said.” “That it is absolutely critical you do not open burn when conditions are like this and we have that heightened potential to worsen a wildfire or create another wildfire.”…
