The Garden City Daily Grind, situated along Atlantic Avenue, offers patrons the ability to sit outside and enjoy a coffee while watching activity along the main street or take an iced latte to the beach.
Mary Maestas bought the coffee shop, which has been there for several years, and reopened it in mid-March. She’s worked as a line cook in the area for many years, most recently at the Surfside Beach Pier.
When Maestas saw the coffee shop for sale, she knew she had to purchase it. Her mother’s dream had been to own a coffee shop with a book store, which she never got to do. Maestas hopes to bring in bookshelves later to honor her mom.
Regarding changes coming to the coffee shop, Maestas has brought in treats from Casey’s Cookie Worx , is selling earrings made by a local artist Beads by Ray and hung up paintings by Sudie Cunnane on the wall. There’s also a cork board where Maestas is encouraging female business owners to hang up their cards…
