Man tries to choke girlfriend, stab security guard at Myrtle Beach resort, police report says

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A 26-year-old man remains in jail after allegedly trying to choke his girlfriend and stab a Myrtle Beach resort’s security officer, according to a police report.

Police arrested James Waller, 26, on Sunday after officers were called Sunday evening to the Compass Cove resort in the 2300 block of S. Ocean Boulevard. He was charged with first-degree assault and battery and remains in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $150,000 bond, online jail records show.

The woman told officers the incident began when she and Waller had an altercation and he tried to choke her and throw her on a bed, the report said. As she tried to get up, Waller allegedly got a knife out of a cabinet…
