Police close investigation into man’s 2021 drowning death at Myrtle Beach pool

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Myrtle Beach police’s investigation into the 2021 drowning death of a man at a Myrtle Beach pool has been closed after it was reopened earlier this year, the department said on Monday.

Christopher Skinner, a quadriplegic, drowned on Sept. 6, 2021, at the pool on Yorkshire Parkway, and at the time, the Horry County Coroner’s Office ruled his death an accident. He was found at about 8 a.m. and died hours later at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center from asphyxiation due to drowning.

“The primary purpose of a police investigation is to gather evidence and information to determine if a crime occurred. The Myrtle Beach Police Department was called and responded to investigate the death of Christopher Skinner that occurred in September 2021,” a department spokesperson said in a statement. “After all investigative leads at the time had been exhausted, the case was closed with a determination that no probable cause existed to charge anyone with a crime.”…
