FIRST ALERT: Showers and a few storms today, sunshine returns tomorrow

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – We are giving you the First Alert to showers and a few storms arriving through the early afternoon.

TODAY

The Storm Prediction Center this morning has highlighted most of our area under a LEVEL 1, low risk for a stronger storm or two through the mid-morning and into the early afternoon, based on the latest data is when our best chance for rain will arrive.

Activity through the day will be scattered, starting off the morning nice and dry the Pee Dee will start to see a few showers and an isolated downpour through the mid morning hours and into the early afternoon.

For Horry County and the Grand Strand, rain chances today look to be at their highest just after lunch, between one and three p.m., before the storms work off shore.

Some of us will pick up on much-needed downpours, and a few isolated storms could be on the stronger side. The main threat within a stronger storm today will be the wind gusts; small hail can’t be ruled out, especially this time of year, but the threat is low.

No need to completely cancel any outdoor plans, have the WMBF FIRST ALERT WEATHER APP with you through the day, we will send you notifications right to the palm of your hand on when rain will start to impact outdoor activities.

Temperatures will be warmer today, we will climb to the upper 70s for the Grand Strand, and the Pee Dee will top off in the mid-80s this afternoon. By dinner time, a stray shower can’t be ruled out, skies will start to clear up, and we could even see sunshine through the latter half of the day…
