The National Weather Service warns that stronger currents could catch swimmers off-guard, with water temperatures and air temps both hovering in the low to mid-70s.
According to the US National Weather Service in Wilmington, a moderate rip current threat will impact Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Surf City, Topsail Beaches, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, and Sunset Beach through Sunday evening. Meanwhile, beaches facing south in Brunswick County — including Oak Island and Holden Beach — are at a lower risk.
Travelers and locals are urged to swim near lifeguard stations and avoid venturing into deeper water, especially during outgoing tides.
