MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – Temperatures are warmer this morning with higher dewpoints. Heat continues to dominate as high pressure controls. Once the control of high pressure weakens, rain chances increase with a slow-moving cold front approaching from the west. This will impact weekend weather.
Highs will be similar to yesterday, with temperatures near 80 at the beach; a sea breeze will knock temperatures, during the mid-afternoon, back to the mid-70s. There is a moderate rip current risk in effect for area beaches with breezy afternoon winds out of the south. Mostly sunny today and a little sticky with dewpoints in the low-60s. Mostly clear tonight with lows in the 60s.
Temperatures will continue to be hot on Friday with an isolated shower possible, but it looks like high pressure will mostly control until Saturday morning. As a result, rain chances continue to shift. Now, Saturday evening into Sunday will be the best chance of scattered showers and storms. There is still disagreement amongst models about the timing of the front…
