150 animals seized from Conway-area, police say; woman arrested

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A woman has been arrested and 150 animals were seized in connection with an animal hoarding case, Horry County police said Friday.

Alexandra Stadelmann of Conway faces 20 charges related to violations of Horry County’s animal care and treatment ordinance and the livestock ordinance.

Authorities received tips in recent days from people who indicated there may be an animal hoarding situation on Old Railroad Road outside of Conway, police said. Responding officers noted multiple animal violations, including emaciated dogs caged inside.

Nineteen dogs, seven cats, 97 birds, and 27 rabbits were taken to the Horry County Animal Care Center for assessment and treatment, where they remain as of this writing, according to police. The animals involved in the case are not currently available for adoption or rescue…
