Downed trees block multiple roads across the county

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – City and county crews are working to clear downed trees that are blocking roadways and have taken down power lines after an afternoon storm brought heavy rain and powerful winds.

First, Horry County Fire Rescue was called out around 6:45 p.m. to Middle Ridge Avenue between Myrtle Ridge Drive and West Perry Road for one of the fallen trees.

In another scene, just 10 minutes later, crews were called to work on multiple trees that also took down power lines on Tilly Swamp Road.

HCFR said once crews remove the tree, utility crews can begin their work to restore power.

That scene is expected to be closed for an extended period…
