‘Shame on you:’ Myrtle Beach mayor slams critics, media after details of land deal revealed

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A complex land deal involving property owned by Mayor Brenda Bethune’s BJ Investments took an emotional turn after she assailed critics of the plan once officials approved it on Tuesday.

“To those who tried to make this look shady or underhanded, shame on you,” she said. “Shame on you for not doing your homework and finding out exactly what you were talking about.”

At issue is a 1.45-acre Jackson Street parcel located in the heart of Myrtle Beach’s arts and innovation district that Bethune acquired in 2016 before taking office…
