Horry County man accused of shooting, killing dog

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Horry County police this week arrested a Conway man accused of shooting and killing a dog.

HCPD charged James Smith, 23, with ill treatment of animals, in general, torture.

Officers responded just before 1:30 p.m. on May 26 to Legend Road in Galivants Ferry after someone called and said that a neighbor shot her other neighbor’s dog in the street.

According to arrest warrants, Smith shot the dog from the bed of a truck despite the dog not being aggressive and not destroying property…
