North Myrtle Beach Cuban restaurant to open bakery and offer free samples. Here’s when

A locally-owned Cuban restaurant in North Myrtle Beach is opening a new bakery this weekend, and the public can come enjoy free samples of their freshly-baked selections.

Cuba Bar and Restaurante is hosting a grand opening event for the new bakery on Saturday, starting at 2 pm. The event will feature samples of the bakery’s new pastries and treats, which include guava and cream cheese pastelitos, bread pudding, flan, empanadas, rice pudding and more.

The restaurant opened in 2023, bringing authentic Cuban food like plantains and fresh Cuban sandwiches to the North Myrtle Beach area. They have typically welcomed diners in the evenings only, but with the introduction of hot bakery items, they will begin opening for a breakfast and lunch period from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily before opening again for their typical 4 to 11 p.m. dinner time.

Dariela Velasquez, the manager of Cuba Bar and Restaurante who co-owns the new bakery alongside her husband, said that she looks forward to bringing authentic Cuban desserts and baked items to the community. Even their already popular Cuban sandwiches will be upgraded, using bread baked fresh in-house, she said…
