(WPDE) — The 2025 summer solstice is fast approaching! Friday, June 20, the astronomical event marks the start of summer for the Northern Hemisphere.
This is often known as the longest day of the year; however, this statement is a bit misleading.
The summer solstice features the most time in daylight compared to hours of darkness for the Northern Hemisphere. For the Grand Strand and Pee Dee, there are roughly 14 and a half hours of daylight out of the 24 hours in a day on the summer solstice.
