NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Three people were taken to the hospital Wednesday evening after an ocean-rescue incident just north of the Cherry Grove pier in North Myrtle Beach, authorities said.
The rescue took place just before 8 p.m. near the 6200 block of North Ocean Boulevard after an initial report that six swimmers were in distress, according to North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue, which responded along with North Myrtle Beach police, the North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad and Horry County Fire Rescue.
A North Myrtle Beach police officer trained in ocean rescues was among the first to arrive and, with the help of good Samaritans, safely brought two people back to the shore, authorities said. North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue crews then entered the water and rescued two more people…
