Conway, Horry County leaders have differing ideas on Carolina Forest annexation plan

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Conway and Horry County leaders say they currently have different ideas for the future of nearly 1,000 acres in Carolina Forest and what is best for the area’s residents.

Due to traffic and public safety concerns, Horry County leaders turned down a proposed development in 2023 that would have brought more than 1,000 homes into the area in question.

“The road at Postal Way has just been improved, Carolina Forest Boulevard has just been improved, and it’s still at capacity,” Covington Lake HOA president Norm Fay said. “So, I don’t see that any additional housing is going to be to the benefit of Carolina Forest.”…
