Senior citizens have taken over this famous Seaside town

Myrtle Beach, a South Carolina seaside town once notorious for its lively nightclubs and strip joints—also known as “Dirty Myrtle”—has become a popular retirement spot as America’s aging population grows.

According to recent estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of residents aged 65 and older in the Myrtle Beach metro area increased by 6.3% last year, making it the fastest-growing metropolitan area for seniors in the United States.

Throughout the 2020s, the senior demographic has expanded by over 22%, also the highest rate in the country this decade.
