Independence Day Run benefits Grand Strand Humane Society

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Over 1,000 people laced up their sneakers Friday morning for an Independence Day Run at The Market Common.

Race organizers told ABC 15 that the race wasn’t just about fitness, but it was also about helping local animals. Proceeds from the event benefitted the Grand Strand Humane Society, which meant something special to participants like Austin Thompson Spain.
