MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Two men were arrested and charged with over $1 million in fraud after officers suspected them of marijuana use outside a Myrtle Beach hotel, according to Myrtle Beach Police Department (MBPD) reports.
Willie Bernard Perry was charged with simple possession of marijuana, loitering and seven counts of receiving stolen goods valued at $10,000 or more.
Devonte Owen Dawkins was charged with loitering, financial transaction card theft and eight counts of receiving stolen goods valued at $10,000 or more.
At 7:30 a.m. July 11, an MBPD officer was patrolling the area of 710 Frontage Road near the Comfort Suites Myrtle Beach Central hotel when they noticed “a suspicious vehicle,” according to the incident report.
