Few more storms today

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Spotty showers are widespread across the area this afternoon. A few thunderstorms, but most just have pockets of heavy rain.

Temperatures will be near normal, in the upper 80s at the coast and low and mid-90s inland. Dew points remain high and uncomfortable, surging the heat index over 100 degrees, but there are no heat alerts for today.

Rain chances will be lower Thursday through the weekend as high pressure over the western Atlantic stays in control in the Carolinas. Yes, this keeps rain mostly away for the weekend, but it is going to surge temperatures. Heat alerts are likely to be issued for Saturday and Sunday as temperatures will be in the upper 90s inland and low 90s at the beach. This high pressure is also likely to keep away what is brewing in the Gulf.
