Heat-related emergency calls increase during advisory, officials say

GARDEN CITY, S.C. (WPDE) — On Sunday, the heat index in Myrtle Beach reached 90 before 5 a.m. and 100 before 11 a.m.

An emergency responder from Midway Fire Rescue said there’s been an increase in heat related calls, responding to around six on Saturday.
