MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Bhagavan ‘Doc’ Antle’s Myrtle Beach Safari remains federally certified through October, federal documents show — prompting one of the nation’s largest animal rights groups to ask for an immediate shutdown in light of his wildlife trafficking conviction.
On Wednesday, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals asked the U.S. Department of Agriculture to launch an investigation into Sugriva Co. LLC — which is operating Antle’s company under a USDA certificate that expires Oct. 20, according to online records.
Antle’s own certificate was cancelled on Jan. 8, 2024, shortly after he pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy and money laundering charges. U.S. District Court Judge Joseph Lawson III earlier this month sentenced Antle to one year and a day in prison…
