‘Once-in-a-generation opportunity’: Santee Cooper transfers 800 acres to city of Conway for redevelopment

CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) – The City of Conway is hoping the redevelopment of a former energy plant site will ignite a new kind of energy — by turning more than 800 acres of land into a major public resource.

City leaders gathered at the former Santee Cooper Grainger Generating Station Wednesday to announce their vision for the site, which has been closed to the public for years.
