PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. (WBTW) — Pawleys Island put new rip current risk signs up today at multiple beach access points between Shell Rd. and the south end of the island.
These signs are a part of the town’s safety initiative following the recent drowning of 38-year-old father and former police officer, Anderson “Chase” Childers from Dallas, Georgia. He died rescuing six other swimmers in distress.
While the town has life rings stationed at most beach access points, they have not had any lifeguards over the years, which the town says is due to a lack of funds and manpower…
