Filming at Socastee swing bridge for Netflix series ‘Outer Banks’ wraps up early due to weather

SOCASTEE, S.C. (WBTW) — Filming for the Netflix series “Outer Banks” at the Socastee swing bridge wrapped up earlier than expected Tuesday after inclement weather hit the Grand Strand.

Horry County officials said the bridge would be closed from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday to allow for filming, but the bridge was already closed by 9:15 a.m. Fans of the series showed up in anticipation, hoping to get a glimpse of the crew as they film a stunt for season 5.

Matt Storm with the South Carolina Film Commission said they were looking at future dates that they could return to the swing bridge to continue filming. He said they were able to film some parts of the scene, but not all.

It’s currently unclear if what was shot on Tuesday will be used in the show. Season 5 of Outer Banks is expected to release sometime in 2026, although no official date has been announced…
