PETA calls for investigation into Doc Antle’s ongoing involvement with Myrtle Beach Safari

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — PETA is urging federal authorities to investigate further into Doc Antle, a figure known from the “Tiger King” series, who was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison after pleading guilty to wildlife trafficking and money laundering. Despite his sentencing, PETA claims Antle continues to manage and operate Myrtle Beach Safari under a different business license.

Debbie Metzler, Senior Director of Captive Wildlife for PETA, said, “Doc Antle admitted this issue with him continuing to be running the show to be continuing to be managing these operations during his sentencing hearing so it was those admissions that is very important for the USDA to hear to understand that it must terminate the license.”

According to PETA, before Antle’s plea deal in 2023, the USDA approved an operating license for Sugriva LLC, which is owned by one of his romantic partners…
