MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) -A thunderstorm Thursday evening produced a hurricane force wind gust at Myrtle Beach International Airport Thursday evening.
A line of storms pushing through Horry County intensified while nearing the coast. The intensifying storms produced a microburst over Myrtle Beach International Airport resulting in a wind gust to 74 mph registered at 9:18 PM.
The gust is the highest measured at MYR since a gust to 74 mph during Hurricane Matthew.
The microburst rapidly pushed east and produced a wind gust to 55 mph at Springmaid Pier at 9:24 PM.
