Myrtle Beach man gets 9 months for hate-based threats against New York reporter

NEW YORK (WBTW) — A Myrtle Beach man was sentenced to nine months in federal prison on Friday for making hate-based threats against a New York reporter, court records show.

Austin Suman was arrested by federal authorities in Myrtle Beach in November and pleaded guilty in April to a charge of making threatening interstate communications. A judge in the U.S. Southern District Court in New York also sentenced him to three years of supervised release after his prison sentence, records show.

Suman could have received up to five years in prison. Two other charges against him were dismissed…
