EUGENE, ORE. (WBTW) — Coastal Carolina alumni and Olympian Melissa Jefferson-Wooden over the weekend became the first woman since 2003 to win the national title in the 100 and 200 meters at the Toyota USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Oregon.
The former Chanticleer ran a personal best in the 200 meters on Sunday with a time of 21.84. She also ran a personal best in the 100 meters on Friday at 10.65.
Jefferson-Wooden’s 10.65 in the 100 meters is the fastest time in the world this year and the fifth-fastest of all time, CCU said. She will represent Team USA at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo from Sept. 13-21…
