MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Loris man accused of killing his estranged wife in Marion County in 2021 pleaded guilty last week to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 22 years in prison, the 12th Circuit Solicitor’s Office said Monday.
Corey Dontray Rowell was sentenced for killing Lasha Bellamy on May 13, 2021, authorities said. Rowell was facing a murder charge after her body was found on Tylaura Road in Mullins.
Rowell had his bond revoked last September. He was already in the Marion County Detention Center on charges of first-degree domestic violence, resisting arrest, and a weapons charge when the murder count was added.
