John-Paul Miller harassment trial opens with pastor questioning former Solid Rock member

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — John-Paul Miller, the former pastor of the now-defunct Solid Rock church in the Market Common, was in court in Myrtle Beach on Monday as jury selection began in a trial involving his harassment complaint against a former member of his congregation and close personal friend.

Miller sued Sam Rickman in January, saying that he had “engaged in a persistent pattern of harassment against (Miller), including screaming and demonstrating against (Miller’s) mere existence in public locations throughout Horry County.”

Rickman was among a dozen people at the center of legal action by Miller on harassment complaints, many of whom were affiliated with the “Justice for Mica” movement, which grew out of the death of Miller’s wife, Mica, in April 2024.
