Horry County police chief warns parents as gangs attempt to recruit young kids

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — It’s been around one year since the Horry County Police Department started its Gang Enforcement Unit.

As officers identify gang members in the county, Police Chief Kris Leonhart says they’re learning members are recruiting children as young as elementary aged.

“We do know that that element is out there where they’re trying to recruit younger children into these affiliations with these gangs,” Leonhart said…
