South Carolina Highway Patrol urges caution while driving in light of Highway 22 crash

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — After a fatal crash on a busy South Carolina highway, officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol are reminding drivers to be aware on the roads.

Cpl. Nick Pye said he could not comment on the crash itself, but said many of the recent crashes investigated by his department are caused by three specific things: Distracted driving, speeding, and driving under the influence.

Pye said simple things, such as checking your phone or even eating, can lead to serious collisions. These distractions, alongside speeding or driving under the influence, could add to the seriousness of any situation…
