Myrtle Beach police master corporal receives life-saving award for off-duty actions

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., (WBTW) — Master Cpl. Matthew Deane has just been given the Life Saver award by the South Carolina Police Chiefs Association for his heroic actions while off the clock.

Deane has been with the Myrtle Beach Police Department for 14 years, working as a collision investigator, traffic enforcer, and now as a lifesaver.

Recently, Deane saved the life of his neighbor’s father, who collapsed on the kitchen floor all of a sudden. He was able to put his training to use and performed CPR on the man, saving his life…
