CONWAY, S.C. — A Conway man is facing nearly 80 criminal charges after authorities seized dozens of dogs kept in what officers described as poor and neglectful conditions.
According to Horry County Police, Herbert Dozier was arrested Thursday after investigators, acting on a tip from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, discovered 39 dogs tied to trees or confined in inadequate kennels on property along Merritt Drive.
39 Dogs Taken Into Custody
Officials confirmed that the animals were immediately removed from the property and transported to the Horry County Animal Care Center for medical assessment and treatment. The seized dogs are not yet available for adoption, fostering, or rescue while they undergo evaluations.
Authorities said the case represents one of the largest recent seizures of neglected animals in Horry County.
Felony and Misdemeanor Charges
