Beachgoers warned of sea butterflies that mimic glass shards

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — If you were out on the beach this past weekend, you may have seen what looks like shards of glass.

They are marine organisms commonly known as sea butterfly because they float like a butterfly. However, they sting like a bee.

Their sharp bodies can stick into the skin like a splinter, and multiple pricks can lead to small red bumps…
