A local realtor joins the race to represent Myrtle Beach as mayor

A local realtor, Eva Rigney, announced her candidacy for the mayor of Myrtle Beach on Friday Aug. 29.

Rigney aims to address the city’s economic challenges — especially its dependence on tourism — and rising crime if elected into office.

“I just felt that I have a lot to offer to Myrtle Beach. My life experience, my work experience has always prepared me for public service,” Rigney said. “When I was looking at the proposed budget for 2025-26, I was really alarmed because I just felt like that was going to be the beginning of too much debt for the city.”…
