Woman charged in hit-and-run crash that killed North Carolina motorcyclist in Horry County

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A woman has been arrested on a hit-and-run charge in connection with a deadly Horry County crash last week, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

Cheryl Richards, 67, was arrested Tuesday and charged with hit-and-run involving a death, which stems from the crash that killed motorcyclist Eric Odom of Ocean Isle Beach. She posted an $80,000 bond and was released to home detention.

The crash happened at about 7:35 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, along Highway 17 near Chuck Lane, Master Trooper Brandon Bolt said. Richards is accused of hitting Odom’s 2023 Harley Davidson in her 2025 Ford SUV before fleeing the scene…
