Trustees’ votes give MUSC controlling interest in Tidelands Health

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WBTW) — Trustees for the Medical University Hospital Authority and Tidelands Health have approved a plan that will create a new partnership between the two hospitals.

A Tidelands spokesperson said on Friday that the deal, which gives MUSC majority control of Tidelands, is expected to close in the fall. The approvals by both hospitals’ boards of trustees came after the State Joint Bond Review Committee and the State Fiscal Accountability Authority OK’d the plan last month.

“This marks a pivotal moment for our health system and the communities we serve,” said Tidelands CEO Bruce Bailey said. “With board approvals secured, we are one step closer to realizing a transformative partnership that will expand access to care, enhance services, and improve health outcomes across Georgetown and Horry counties.”…
