HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — On the second anniversary of his death in a Longs roadside shootout, U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace said Scott Spivey and his relatives have been robbed of justice by her gubernatorial rival.
Spivey, 33, was shot more than 15 times along Camp Swamp Road outside of Loris on Sept. 9, 2023 during a confrontation with North Myrtle Beach restauranteur Weldon Boyd and his friend, Kenneth Williams.
The men were traveling on Highway 9 just before 6 p.m. when an unknown altercation took place between them. Spivey was in a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup, while the other men were in a white Dodge Ram pulling a trailer.
Police found Spivey dead in his front seat hunched over his center console with a handgun just underneath his hand, the report shows. Local authorities would conclude that Spivey provoked the men and it was ruled just hours after the shooting, Boyd acted in self-defense…
