Police investigating Pawleys Island vehicle break-ins

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – An investigation into multiple vehicle break-ins is underway in one coastal Georgetown County community.

The Pawleys Island Police Department said individuals were seen breaking into vehicles on the north end of the island early Monday morning.

Response to Mount Pleasant home break-in under internal review

Police released two home security videos showing perpetrators checking door handles in various driveways. It’s unclear if the suspects took any items from the vehicles.

“While thankfully these incidents are infrequent on Pawleys Island, we encourage you to exercise caution and lock your vehicles and homes and secure other valuable items on your premises,” said Pawleys Island Town Administrator Dan Newquist and Police Chief Mike Fanning in a joint message to property owners…
