MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The North Tower of the World Trade Center was hit at 8:46 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2001. Twenty-four years later, at that exact time, the Myrtle Beach Fire Department began its annual stair climb to honor those who died in the terrorist attack.
Nearly 3,000 people died at the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and on a plane that crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Nearly 350 of those who died were firefighters and paramedics.
