Grand Strand theater backs government lawsuit against Ticketmaster, Live Nation

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The general manager of the Carolina Opry Theater said Friday the Myrtle Beach entertainment venue supports the Federal Trade Commission in a lawsuit against Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation.

The lawsuit claims the companies have helped ticket-scalpers and engaged illegal resale tactics.

While Carolina Opry doesn’t work with either Ticketmaster or Live Nation, General Manager Richard Scotts said their tickets have been the target of resales done by scalpers. He said the theater does work with authorized third-party sellers, but issues still emerge…
