MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — A birthday celebration was held on Sunday to honor the legacy of a Myrtle Beach photographer and unofficial historian.
Jack Thompson was presented with The Order of the Palmetto, “the highest civilian honor bestowed by the state of South Carolina, awarded to individuals for extraordinary lifetime achievements, service, and contributions to the state and its people.”
The celebration took place in the Myrtle Beach Train Depot, a building Thompson petitioned to save and restore back when the city had plans to tear it down over 20 years ago…
