Conway man sentenced to 18 years for rape, kidnapping

Nearly 19 years after an egregious crime was committed, a conviction has been reached.

Randy Barnhill, 60, of Conway pleaded guilty to rape, kidnapping, and burglary on Tuesday, Sept. 30. Barnhill exercised what is known as an Alford plea, when the defendant does not admit guilt, but acknowledges a jury would likely convict based upon the evidence, according to Leigh Andrew Waller, the senior assistant solicitor who prosecuted the case for the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
