Horry County case manager charged with forgery, Medicaid fraud, attorney general says

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A case manager at the South Carolina Autism Society is accused of claiming services were provided to Medicaid beneficiaries when the services were not given, according South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson.

Brett John Lerner, 32, of Longs, was charged with forgery value less than $10,000 and medical assistance provider fraud. He was released Thursday from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $4,500 bond.

According to the Attorney General’s Vulnerable Adults and Medicaid Provider Fraud unit, between March 25, 2024 and June 27, 2024, Lerner allegedly submitted false payment claims to the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees the state’s Medicaid program…
