Myrtle Beach airport hosts hero’s welcome for local Olympic gold medalist

Myrtle Beach (WPDE) — The Myrtle Beach International Airport held a Hero’s Welcome home on Friday to celebrate and congratulate Georgetown County native and Olympic gold medalist Melissa Jefferson-Wooden.

Jefferson-Wooden made history at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo when she became the first American woman to receive gold medals in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 4 x 100-meter.

She is only the second woman in history to receive those awards all at the same competition…
